This is a follow up to a post from a couple of weeks ago regarding HKS BOV's that just stop working, generally after sitting for a while. Here's a link to the original post: :[ http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1779471 ] My only theory is that this is a problem with the HKS BOV's being mounted in the stock recirculation valve location which exposes them to the elements. You will see in the following pictures, corrosion in the valves is causing the problem. It's most likely a result of minimal amounts of moisture getting inside of the BOV's during the rain. That's the only thing that I can think of, the car that these bov's came off of were properly installed with the filters in place. This is the front side of the bov with the cover removed, note, you do not need to remove all of the allen bolts to remove the cover, only every other one. You can look in the cover to tell which one's to remove. : Once the cover is removed, you will be able to access the nuts/bolts that hold back cover in place. You will not be able to access the two bottom bolts without removing the bov from the flange, a shortcut is to use needle nose pliers to remove the two allen bolts so that you don't have to remove the flange. Once you remove the cover to expose the diaphragm, you will likely see quite a bit of corrosion as illustrated in the following pictures: : : : : Remove all of the corrosion and use WD-40 or a silicone spray to clean and lubricate the diaphragm. Make sure the 4 small holes in the center diaphragm are clean and unobstructed, here's a pic of them but it came out very blurry. Sorry for the pic quality on this one.......... : Once everything is clean, reassemble and you should be good to go. Hope this helps a few of you out. On a side note, I have seen a simlar problem with the TurboXS RFL's not working upon initial installation. The problem with them is the lubricant put in them is to thick and will actually cause the piston to stick in place. Clean out the grease put in there by TurboXS and put a lighter/thinner lube in it's place. Tim
