Message I'm aware of Buzz's post on bypassing the starter relay, but I'd like to avoid abusing my ignition switch unless I absolutely have to.

The situation:
Z has been sitting for many weeks without being started. I got it to start ONCE a few days ago - right after replacing the battery. Won't start again. I can hear the starter relay click once when I turn the key to the start position. I had my friend turn the key and I can feel a click when I hold the relay in my hand. I do not have a multimeter handy.

What I've done:
- Replaced battery
- Charged battery fully and put on trickle charger between testing
- Armed/disarmed using key in driver door, seems to function as expected
- Opened closed rear/hatch with key
- Inspected fusible links near battery
- Tried swapping Theft relay with the relay of same type (Headlight Dim relay?)
- Cleaned battery posts and cable connectors with battery and connector wire brush tool
- Rocked car back and forth to try to engage starter
- Starter was replaced a year ago

Questions:
1) Is there another relay like the starter relay somewhere in the car that I can temporarily swap with?
2) Can the starter relay make the single click noise and still be bad?
3) When rocking back and forth the car was not in gear. Should it be in gear when I do this?

- G.
