Heres how to replace your main EFI harness....just follow these simple steps and youll have it done in no time. Step 1: Remove engine. Step 2: Remove various tie downs holding the old harness in place and cut the old one either at the rubber boot or inside the footwell to remove it. Step 3: Remove the last of the old harness. Pull up the carpet and remove the wood floorboard, then remove the ECU, the ECU is held down with the yellow circled bolts(10mm), once the ECU is up remove the plug from it by unscrewing the 10mm bolt. Disconnect the white plug, its just a simple squeeze plug release. Pull the rest of the wiring harness on through.
Step 3: Comparing old harness to new: Here is your old white plug, remove the resistor taped to the harness so you can see the wires more clearly, check to see if there are any duplicate colors and compare it to your old harness. When I replaced the harness on my 90 i found several duplicate colors, doing the harness on this 93 I found one duplicate color wire, if nessesary make yourself a plug diagram with the pin number and color of wire so you do not get the wiring confused for the white plug. Or you can do like me and just put a single piece of tape on the one wire you dont want to get mixed up.
Some closeups of the 2 plugs, comparing them looking for differences(note if you want to use these pictures as a pinout diagram then it should be noted that this is more like a 92 harness even though its going onto a 93, the convertible did not switch injector types untill 94) You want to keep the old plug around as a basis to reinstall your new wires into your new plug.

Step 4: Installing new harness: To install the new harness you need to make room for the plugs to feed through the firewall. Now youll need to remove the white plug cover on the back of the main ECU harness, it just pops right off....pretty damm easy.

Ok now you need to remove the pins from the white plug, the best thing to use would be a small screwdriver like shown in the center. You need to start by removing the rear yellow plastic cover, then use the screwdriver to hold down the plastic retaining clip on the pin, gently pull the pin out, if you got the release pushed it will come out with very little resistance.

Removing the pins: Just insert the screwdriver between the metal pin and the plastic retaining clip and gently push the retaining clip away, gently pull on the wire and the pin will come out. Continue to do so with all of the pins. Try not to loose the white plastic plug.

[b]Installing the New harness: You will need to open up the hole that the harness runs through.
I used this extension, anything similar to this to will work. Use the extension to work the hole just a little bit bigger, it helps alot.
 Push in some:
 Pry some:
Feed the ECU end of the harness under the brakelines, I forgot to do this when I replaced my first one, trust me it makes a headache later to have to feed EVERYTHING through that little opening.

Feed the blue plug down like so, dont force it, there should be no reason to force the thing down, if it doesnt want to go its because its hanging on something. Try jiggling it or backing it back off again.

Push the rubber boot back into place:
Reconnect the Pins: Pretty simple, just push the pins back into the white plug in the correct placement, this is why you want to keep the old white plug, or make a pinout diagram.
OK thats it, your new harness is installed, now of course your going to want to reconnect the ECU, and put the hold downs back in the engine bay. But if your doing this I think you can handle that little bit by yourself.
