Go back to your first post, Stuart. What Jon's saying is that they don't make an Iridium plug that replaces the stock NGK plug, and won't recommend a replacement for it for general use. They will make a recommendation on an individual basis and if you follow their recommendation, you're on the hook in case damage occurs. Jon's pretty plain also on what damage could occur: the insulator could fracture and disintegrate due to high heat. If that happens, you'll have pieces of plug in the cylinder, and that could cause damage to the piston as well as the valves. About the specialists at GetGreddy.... Sorry if I sound pessimistic, but I think the truth is that they use the Iridium plugs because they are readily available and cheaper than the stock plugs. All too often I've heard the 'performance' excuse from garages about why they use a particular part. In this case, I tend to think that it's the more prototypical Brit response: we've used them with no problems, so we continue to use them. No thought in that to overall performance, and no documentation to support any claims that it's OK to do this. In fact, Jon is saying there's a big risk in doing so.
