I don't know of any way to test the recirculation valves other than to run a line to a boost gauge that originates from a point in front of the throttle bodies. Tapping into one of the wastegate actuator signal lines would work.
Boost pressure should rapidly fall away when you release the throttle if the recircs are working properly.
