The relay YugoBernie is referring to caused the exact same problem on my car that you explained. I opened that relay and found a cold solder in there that was the actual point of failure. I was able to clean off the old solder and resolder the bad solder point and the relay worked fine again.It was a number of months ago that I did that, so I can't tell you off hand which solder point was bad... if you open up the relay, look closely at all the solder points and you will see which one is the bad one.
