the brass ones when pounding them into the crank end. That will cause the pilot shaft to drag and keep turning. Been there, done that. Not sure if you had a tool or dummy pilot shaft to line the clutch up while tightening the pressure plate, but whatever you used should have slid easily into and out of the brass bushing after installing the bushing. If not, then you found the likely source of your problem. As a side note, the roller bearings can seize as they get older and when they do it tears up the pilot shaft. At least the brass is graphite impregnated and will just get sloppy when it is old and worn.
