As the distance between the crankshaft and camshafts is altered, valve timing will be affected, requiring adjustable cam pulleys. The location of the intake ports relative to their position on the "V" between the heads will change. Port matching between the head and lower intake manifold will be thrown off. This requires machining of the manifold to correct the misalignment between the ports. Cutting down DOHC engines present a series of challenges
