Subject	Intermittent starter grinding after 3 starters, new flywheel

Message	I’m at my wit’s end! 90 NA, couple years ago starter would intermittently grind the flywheel when starting…first it was every few months, I’d change the starter, go away, then come back. Just changed the flywheel (no missing teeth on the old one, although some damaged). It looks like the starter pinion isn’t fully engaging with the flywheel every time, so it’s grinding away the flywheel teeth. But new flywheel and 3 days later back to a grind this morning (but started on the 2nd key turn). I’ve also replaced the starter relay. Seems like the starter isn’t getting some signal to engage the pinion fest all the way? Wiring? Or something I’m missing? I’ve had the car for 26 years, and prior to this had changed 1 starter…please help with ideas! Thanks!
