Message This will tell of any issues that relate to your problem. Note the needle movement if all OK it will be a very steady (no vibs) reading at a high reading.

Although the link is for a 280z the info is for your case as far as gage interpertations and explainations given. I do not know what the 300zx TT idle vacuum is for a healthy engine but guess at in the range of a steady 19 - 20" Hg.

I have a vacuum gage in my tool supply for over 50 years very handy for old school diagnosis.

FYI my 92 300zx NA idles at a steady 21"Hg with 94k on the ODO.
