Subject	was is the wire by the battery compartment?

Message	Hi, I have a 1993 300zx convertible that had a rat eat a wire. The wire is to the left of the bottom of where the battery sits and goes through a rubber boot to somewhere. The other end goes to the wiring harness on the left hand side of the engine compartment. My question is what does this wire do? the car idled good before I found this rat and now it idles lumpy. Do not know if this wire has something to do with the lumpy idle. Thanks for any help you can offer me.
