| because the strut/shock gaskets are supporting the weight of the whole car. I imagine rubber would crush over time as well. I remember this grey gasket material when I was a kid, I think they used to call it "elephant hide" but I haven't seen any of that for a long time. I think I might have to stick with the impregnated paper, like Mr Nissan did, but use some thicker material so it can't bunch up like the flimsy oem ones. I'll have plenty of money to experiment with from the small fortune I'll save by NOT buying the oem gaskets !!!!
