Message Did you submerge the lifters in oil when you rebuilt them? If any debris got in between the ball and seat it could bottom out which would cause the tick. They rarely seize and the tick only lasts a few seconds so id try a thicker oil first but if you already have it out just rebuild them. Also you can find good used heads for about the same price as replacing the lifters maybe even cheaper, It really depends on what your budget will allow.

Definetly replace those generic valves and seals with OEM, if you buy an engine gasket kit they typically come with the seals. If needed the OEM guides will suffice. Bronze guides are typically used in race applications where the engine is disassembled frequently. It is a softer metal than steel and is intended to be sacrificial to reduce the friction of the valve stem. They can be machined to tighter tolerances, have better heat transfer, and are more porous than steel allowing better lubrication. In short they seal better but wear faster, especially if installed incorrectly.
