Message	I did a long time ago, but I just used a file little by little until I got it to clear, you don't have to take off that much. I now have the BDE low pro mounts(Highly recommend them). Not sure on heat shields, maybe someone else can chime in on that one. I personally haven't ran heat shields on my car in 5 years with zero issues.
