Message plenum be removed. It's a good afternoons worth of work so the price quote isn't off. I'd strongly recommend having all 4 valve covers done while things are apart.

Your upper plenum also has coolant hoses on the bottom side - good idea to do them too (many delete that system to reduce complexity but your shop may not wish to undertake the job). Replacing the the hoses will add to the cost of the servicing.

The left and right exhaust valve covers don't use a gasket they are sealed using RTV - Permatex ultra copper or similar. The intake VCs use a gasket. Just mentioning since cleaning off the old RTV on the exhaust VCs also eats up a lot of labor time.

Your upper plenum also has two PCV valves attached. Another good thing to replace since the plenum is out - much easier to do this way too. So ask for another job quote for the hosing and PCV Valves.

PS - there's also a short fuel rail connecting hose (6 inches + 2 clamps) fully exposed when the upper plenum is removed. A good time to have that done too since much, much harder than to do later.

Unfortunately this job can turn more expensive with all this extra work.
