Message I've begun hearing a little bit of a bottom end rattle on starting and shutoff, and thinking maybe my bearings need attention.
If this wasn't a Z I'd just drop the pan and throw in new bearings, but it's a Z.

It essentially means an engine pull, and that opens up all the "while I'm in there" options. I've considered doing rings too, but that basically turns into a full motor teardown. Headgaskets up. I'm not really looking to do that much work.

I'm not even sure if this is the kind of thing that is weekend doable though. I don't have the FSM in front of me but I think I'd need to pull the pan and look at the stampings on the bearing caps to determine what bearings to order?

I'm curious if anyone has done similar and has any feedback.
