Message If you have it on average Your ECU only thinks it's getting half the air so it's cutting the fuel down (which is why you are running lean)

i may have missed it, but I don't see where you ever installed it with both MAFs connected and translator on add.

As for the reason it behaves like you mention with only one or the other side connected, could just be an effect of the translator hardware setup.
