Subject	Checking turbo shaft play through exhaust turbine?

Message	Is it possible to check the condition of the turbo by checking the shaft on the turbine instead of the compressor impeller? Will it give any indication at all as to how bad it is or does the check have to be done 100% on the impeller shaft?
