Message It's definitely time consuming, but not impossible.

I've done it both in and out of the car, it's possible both ways. Definitely far easier to do outside the car but if you don't have the means then you just have to add some extra time to complete it.

Do you have a mechanical background? Have you done any major service on any cars? Have all the proper tools?

Also, what are the details on your car; hoe many miles, how many of those are your miles, did the car overheat, run pretty hard, does it still run, how long after you noticed symptoms of a HG did it get driven?

You will need to figure out what caused the gasket to blow. Usually it's from overheating and warping the head, which means you will need the heads decked and rebuild with oversize gaskets, or worst case new heads.

Also have to consider any other damage that could have occurred, if it ran for awhile with these symptoms you could have bearing damage from the coolant getting into the oil.
