Nothing wrong with doing it yourself. It's not too difficult to do and I believe that there is good write-up with pictures on here. The only things that I didn't bother changing were the Teflon seals that go on the pinion gear and the one that goes on the piston of the rack. If you decide to do it yourself, here are a few notes: 1) Make sure to document which direction the rack seals came out so that you put them back facing the same direction. 2) If you use some sort of tape over the rack gear grooves (so that you don't damage the rack seal as you slide it on) make sure that none of the tape breaks and lodges itself under that seal. That had happened when I did mine and luckily caught it before I put it back together. 3) When everything is buttoned back up, turn the steering wheel lock to lock immediately after starting the car to make sure that the rack seals get seated right.
