In my experience the VTC only rattles on decelerating RPM. That second video didn't sound like a lifter tick or exhaust leak to me. My first guess would be rotating assembly related (rod knock or wrist pin). Try isolating it to one cylinder. If you pull the coil pack plug to that cylinder and the noise gets quieter then it is rotation related. If it stays the same then it may be an extreme case of the VTC. There is a method to manually activate the VTC for testing if you don't have consult software; From AliaZ: ground the green/black wire while the VTC is plugged in. Do this with a pin inserted through the insulation of the wire, or insert it through the backshell of the connector If doing this makes youre noise go away, you have a bad VTC.
