Message	'91 tt, 189k miles. Noticed a fairly loud clatter at idle that is variable and somewhat intermittant and disappears at rpms above idle. I am no espert but it is slow enough that it might be a valve train component. Seems to run the same as usual. Sometimes sounds like an idling diesel, not the fairly gentle valve "tick" I have heard before. I am only an amateur at this so ideas or a suggestion for a mechanic in NJ would be appreciated.
