Message	I would say a thousand RPM fluctuations is outside of norm. The CAS can do all kinds of weird things once they get old and worn. There is an excellent write up on here somewhere, or maybe at zcar.com where the guy, damned if I can remember his name, showed the wave form change in CAS units that had worn bearings. I would try swapping another known good one and see if that solves your problem.
