I have an intermitent check engine light, the time it somes on seems completely random. I checked it out and the ECU is showing an EGR fault. I know there's a few seperate parts that make up the EGR system. Is there any relatively easy way to narrow it down to what specific part? It makes no sense to buy and replace the EGR if it's a different component in the system (IE a hose or PCV valve), then i'll still have the same problem. I have trouble trusting mechanics. They may say and charge me for a new EGR when all they did was change the PCV valves or a hose. I'm not trying to get ripped off. I would prefer to find out what is wrong, buy the part myself, and try to put it in myself. All help and suggestions are appreciated.
