Message I would start from scratch if you have to beat the pistons out. Definitely have the crank inspected, polished and order new bearings. This is the "core" of the car.

Once your bottom end is solid, heads are flat and valves/seats are good...the rest is easy. No fun having to pull heads off (or tear apart bottom end) more than once. Cams can be swapped, turbo's can be upgraded at any time.
