Message ground at the differential (I use wood on floor jack to protect diffy). Place jack stands under secure points. Under car for each wheel grab the 1/2 axel shaft to prevent rotation of it and rock the wheel gently back and forth to stop in each direction. Note the amount of rotation of arc at the outer tread edge. About 1/4" - 3/8" arc is a decent amount of arc for the outer joint radial play. If closer to 1/2" it is getting too excessive.

Now repeat with no 1/2 shaft holding and note the arc travel. The increase is the extra slack in the inner joint and inside the diffy. You can determine the diffy arc slack separately with the 1/2 shaft unbolted at the diffy.

Most likely the added component slack is the culprit but determining which has the most might be the one to replace.

Manual cars notice this the most due to clutch release and the slack take up, auto cars have the slack already taken up in drive.

Do you have the 2 piece DS? If yes check the joint and rubber surround regardless check the tranny isolator support for sag.
