Message single step of it. For instance, you don't have to drill out the throttle-body and plenum coolant pipe tips and remove them. You can just cap them off, and neither are easily seen.

Also, consider if you're going to remove the PCV system?

Delete the EGR?

There are lots of things you can do to clean up the engine compartment which will not only make it easier to work on but might help it run better by eliminating sources of worn parts that cause vacuum leaks, etc.

HOWEVER, keep in mind whether or not you'll be needing your car to pass inspections.

Figure out what all you want to get done before you put the plenum back on to avoid removing and replacing it twice :)
