Message	tooth. More inclined to think the bad timing could be due to a (bad) tensioner issue causing the belt to jump. Old belts just break. I agree a t-belt job is due just due to age. Other experts need to weigh-in about the spark plug issue but seems to me there could be other reasons for what you are finding outside of the timing? Maybe an issue with fuel delivery, injector controls, for that bank?
