Message	into this, it happened to both my cars a Z32 and an I30. On both the brake lights are turned off by a switch that is engaged at the top of the brake pedal, There is a green plastic bumper that pushes a switch plunger in and the green plastic cracks with no warning with age and leaves the brake lights on. In both our cars this happened in the late evening and the battery went dead. They use the same green plastic bumper on the cruise control and the clutch pedal. If your cruse suddenly stops working look into these green plastic bumpers. Look for the green pieces on the floor. Note the OEM green bumpers are a bitch to put back in where they are located..
