Message	Yeah, you don't want to bypass the inhib. Is it possible the plug/wire is shorting out? Have you verified that the starter relay is in fact working at 100% capacity? Worn out contacts in a relay can produce random results - in your case the problem you're describing? It might be worth a shot to purchase a "rental part". If it doesn't work, just return it ;).
