I'm pretty sure it's the issue. While I was under there, I noticed a saggy rear transmission mount, and a completely blown center bearing, so I'm dealing with those first. Interesting sidenote: I have removed the center bearing from the drive shaft, and while the rubber support has completely 100% separated from the bearing, the bearing itself had zero play and was in good working order. I have know idea how long the car was driven like this (a couple thousand K at most), but I found it weird that all that play and vibration hadn't completely destroyed the bearing itself.
