You can't clamp the crank sprocket! This is the most important sprocket of them all! Just do it right the first time and will save you time, money, and most of all energy. You said it it best "live and learn." So why don't you learn from others that have done this over a 100 times? Or screw it... do it your way and have valves interfere with the pistons resulting in catastrophic failure. It's your car not mine! Your a grown man. This is like telling an alcoholic not to drink. Your going to do what your going to do. I am just trying to save you the headache/hangover when your sh*t breaks. With all this talk I would have been done with this in less then 2 hours!
