I would also recommend getting some conformal coating and reseal the circuit board to protect it from corrosion. Lacquer thinner works well to remove the coating and might be safer for the ECU than brake cleaner depending on what chemicals are in it.

Conformal Coating

The ECU is a multi-layer circuit board. Keep this in mind when soldering or desoldering, as it is possible to leave an open circuit if the solder does not flow through completely.
