I have about 800 miles on my rebuilt VG30DETT and am going thru a quart of oil every 70-80 miles with lots of black tailpipe smoke, worse in boost. Spark plugs and pistons tops are coated with oil. Engine overbored to 87.5 mm with JE pistons and rings. Piston to bore clearance is .0035 (per JE). Ring gaps are .019 (top), .021 (2nd), and .015 (oil). Decent leakdown numbers (10-15% all cylinders except #6 which is 18%). Decent compression (cold at 145 - 160 all cylinders). Turbo pipes and intercoolers are clean so it's not turbo seals. Valve stem seals are new with rebuild. Minimal oil in catch cans. Any thoughts? Time to tear down or wait it out?
