My blown head gasket allowed oil in my coolant and my cracked head let coolant get into my oil. I really doubt it is a cracked block. Also when I removed my heads coolant leaked down into the cylinder walls and on top of the pistons. Since you have the engine disassembled I would start with pressure testing the heads as you would want to do this before re-assembly anyway and it will eliminate one possibility.
