Message	then they are working. What it sounds like you need are BDE's upgraded VTC gears. What is your oil pressure at idle? The sound is probably the VTC gears rattling because it goes away when you turn on the solenoids. A lot of people replace the front springs with JWT Heavy Duty Springs but the sound usually comes back. -Dan VTC Solenoid Caps and install instructions.
