When we put the timing light to it last week, I was getting readings of 4-5 degrees with the CAS in the middle, so we all thought the timing was a tooth off, so I pulled the covers. Here are my marks. I know that when installing a new belt all that matters is the marks on the belt lining up with the sprockets, but is there a way to tell if it's off a tooth visually after the covers are off? All my marks on the gears seem to line up with the notches, but the mark on the crank gives me a bit of doubt. Seems like the tooth on the gear it a tad over, but the tooth under is a tad under. Also, how does my tensioner gap look to you guys? It's supposed to be 4mm but to me it seems like it's a tad under. 120k was done with the rebuild 3k ago.
