Any time I've come across this issue it usually is the result of air in the system, but it could be something else. Others will jump in if they've experienced a similar problem caused by something else in the system. :That said, don't forget the ABS bleeds behind the passenger seat on the early Z's (you don't give a year or model of your Z).
