Sorry to hear your still fighting issues with your Z. I remember you from the one time you came to our shop on a group tune weekend, your Z was not in the best mechanical shape, it was leaking oil so badly it was impossible for us to tune it. I remember you seemed angry with us for finding problems with your car, and for us declining tuning it the way it was. Since you did not want us to fix the issues your car had when you brought it to us, we told you to repair the issues and bring it back so we could complete the tune. It has been a long time, But I do remember we spent some time repairing small issues, hooked up all our equipment, made initial adjustments, and dialed in your idle. We could not go any farther, mainly because oil was literally pouring out of the front of your engine from a hole in your oil pump. It was obvious to us your car had more issues, it was a group tune weekend, we had limited time, you declined to repair the MAJOR oil leak, so it was pointless to go farther. I was shocked you were going to try to drive the car home to Arizona from California in the condition the car was in. I just looked at your program, your program is a conservative base tune that we always start with when tuning, your map has light changes to the idle area. Your timing maps are on the conservative side because we were never able to make a full pull, we were expecting you to return to complete the tune once you fixed your problems, that is what we agreed to when you left with the car a couple years ago. The 3000 RPM timing map is normal, the timing is on the lower side of what we typically run on 91 octane, in no way could the tune be causing knock with the program we gave you. Without looking over your car in it's current state, I can not know what issues you might have, I would highly recommend inspecting your CAS, and CAS drive pin for excessive play. You did attempt to have the car tuned at one point, but the car was not ready, it sounds like your car still has issues that will need to be addressed before a tune could be completed. These cars are now a average of 20 years old, just tossing performance parts at them will not make them perfect, an electrical scan and compression test are only 2 of many items that needs to be checked when diagnosing issues. Someone that really understands these cars should look your car over, once it is really ready to tune, I would be happy to finish tuning it. If you want to pay us to find and correct any issues, it is what we do.
