| If the car is in neutral it shouldn't matter if the clutch is engaged or not. Even if the clutch was engaged with the brakes off the starter should be strong enough to roll the entire car. It seems to me that your starter might be weak. Just because it spins when off the car doesn't mean it has enough torque to spin the engine. It could be something as simple as a poor connection (corroded/lose) to the starter that allows enough current to spin the gear but not enough to turn the engine or just an old tired starter with some internal problem. I'm sorry I don't have a more definitive answer, but I really think you're going down the wrong path trouble shooting your clutch. Good luck.
