Message It looks like the replies to this post were wiped out when tt.net went down, but a user said it is probably rust in the gas tank. I haven't put the car back together but I am 99% sure that was the problem. There was a thick layer of sediment at the bottom of that plastic tray that could easily be clogging the fuel sock when I give it a little gas.

I have since cleaned the tank after draining as best I can with it in the car. I realize that if it has started rusting it will just do it again, but I have to have it running because for the near future it is my DD. I will be keeping the tank near full and not allow it to sit long when empty to hopefully stave off future problems.

In regards to the fuel pump slowing bleeding off pressure I have tested the pumps outlet with air (tip from an Ash post in '06) and it seems to hold pressure so I will not be replacing it...for now. The injectors side was also tested with air and holds perfectly.

I am blowing out all the lines and replacing the filter, what came out of it when I back-flowed it was disgusting.

I was recently informed there is a check valve where the lines come out near the bottom of the tank so I'll be finding, testing, and replacing that as my next step to fuel system nirvana..
