Message Hey guys,

1990 TT, 148k, 5spd.

Was on a ~30 mile trip, by the time I arrived at the destination - I could
hardly shift any longer. Put the clutch in, can't shift gears. It also seems
to be getting 'stuck' in gear; as in, put the clutch in when slowing at
~10mph in first, car will stall as if it is ignoring the fact that the clutch is
in - also can't shift out of first at that point. I finally ended up limping the
car to a parking spot by starting it in first (with clutch in) and the starter
forcing the car forward fast enough to start it - again, the clutch being
ignored.

The next day I wound up moving it about 2 miles away, having lots of
trouble but able to shift 3-4 times before the same problems crept up.

The clutch fluid is full. The car has always seemed to have a very light
clutch. Don't know how old the slave/master/clutch are.

The best clue I can offer is that as the shifting started to go, I could put
the clutch in and feel a lot of feedback in the clutch pedal; a deep
vibration in the pedal itself.

Slave cylinder? Master? Throw-out bearing? How can I check this?

Thanks!
