Hello, I got stranded at Fry's tonight because of an ongoing. I know, it sounds cool except after they close and everybody leaves it's just an empty parking lot.A few months ago my mechanic installed a RPS max series pressure plate with street disc. I asked him to replace the clutch master, slave, and install a SS line. He did not replace the pivot ball and I am not confident in the quality of the SS line he put in. So tonight, stranded, because... if the clutch fluid is cold, the clutch behaves normally. After about 20 minutes of driving the clutch pedal starts to have less resistance and it becomes almost impossible to shift gears. I grinded fourth gear really bad tonight because I had to limp home and I am so pissed right now. I adjusted the pedal according to Greg Dupree's website (both when warm and when cold). The mechanic replaced the master cylinder three times already, the third time I insisted he use an OEM master. Each time he replaced the master we thoroughly bled the lines. I would consider the master ruled out now, and if air is getting in I don't think it's from there. What about the slave and clutch line? It seems like he doesn't even want to consider the possibility it could be the slave (or maybe he just knows that's more work to replace again). I noticed something strange tonight for the first time. If the car is warm and motor running it's almost impossible to shift gears. I shut off the car and pumped the clutch pedal a couple times and it stiffened right up and I could shift normally (but only with the motor off). I immediately started the motor and felt the pedal sink and I couldn't shift again. What the hell? There is a popping sound coming from the pressure plate every time I release the clutch pedal. (I don't know if that's related) He has no idea what is making that sound and claims he used plenty of grease on the pivot ball and T/O bearing. Ideas, please? Thank you.
