Message You also need to take into account what type of activity the engine will see. High boost/NOS etc etc. The suggested literature you receive with your pistons of choice is just a guide but not a be all on setting ring gap. Just like anything else when building engines you must take into account all variables in order to appropriately set your clearances no matter what you build the engine for. The basis is what Timz stated but do ensure you take into account the other variables as well as running a minor gap of .019" which is typical from Wiseco out of the bag for the top ring could cause you big problems later if you don't extend your gap for further use in the abuse in which the engine may be ran in. Just food for thought.

All of the rings I've encountered from Wiseco out of the bag have been .019 top and .022-.024" second. For a standard freshen for a street car that will rarely see any racing, these clearances are fine. If you are building an engine to see higher than normal/average boost/abuse you MUST adjust gap accordingly. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
