Message gap by the piston manufacturer. I use this for all my engine builds. Example, if I use wiseco pistons, top ring gap should be 0.055 x cylinder bore size. 2nd ring will be 0.06 x cylinder bore size. Let say you have 88mm wiseco (turbo piston of course), Bore size should be ~ 88.064mm

top ring gap will be 0.0055 x88.064 = 0.484 mm (~19 thou)
second ring gap is 0.006x88.064 = 0.528 mm (~21 thou)

Different piston like Tomei have different gap so just follow their gap size.
