| Always work from the simplest solution to the complex. Check your connectors for corrosion (all of them, PTU, CAS, MAF, Injector and coil pack to start). Have you reset ignition timing? Should be 15 deg. If your timing is on and about in the middle of the cas, that is a good sign, but doesn't mean valve timing is on. Boost leak, recheck all connections and look for cracked, missing hoses and connections. Next check your belt timing. Did you rotate the engine 720 deg, back again and recheck the belts were on the marks on the gears, not backing plate. If you used the backing plate, that is most likely your problem. The right side is usually off one to two teeth if the backing plate is used. Compression is the last test after all of the others are done. I have seen motors (VG30's) where compression was very good and they were off a cog on the valves. Good luck. By the way, painting the engine bay today and hopefully installing the motor this weekend...
