Subject	Bad fuel pump?

Message	I took the cat out of storage for a spring drive. My 1990 300zx tt drove just fine on the way home. Started the car in the morning to warm her up before heading out. After 10min the rpm drop to 300 rpm from a normal 1k rpm. When I step on the gas the rpm does not raise. It just sputter and as I let off the gas the motor dies. Also plent of black smoke is exiting out of exhaust. I don't hear the fuel pump prime like before. Could a faulty a fuel pump cause this? I'll check the rely, fuse, and fuel pressure. If anyone as additional info that would be helpful. Thanks
