Message What kind of "pop?" Any fluids leaking from the car? Fuel smell? Are you sure the motor is getting fuel pressure or are you just listening to the fuel pump prime before turning the engine over?

Worse case scenario: your timing belt may have broken, which possibly means bent valves (and no cylinder compression) -- expensive repair job! One time the alternator drive belt broke on my Maxima on the highway and sort of sounded like a "pop." I'm not sure of a good quick way to directly see if it broke, though hopefully someone will chime in with a quick method.


The day you stop learning about this car is the day you're no longer an enthusiast.
