Subject	How can you determine if inner tie rods are bad or not?

Message	So I took my z in to get a four wheel alignment. Everything looked good to them but they had to cancel the alignment because one of my front inner tie rods was shot. So now I'm home and have the front end in the air. When I grab each wheel and shake it back in fourth there is some play but it seems to be just the steering rack. Because even with the steering wheel locked the steering rack still allows a little play back and fourth. So how do I tell if what they said is true?
