| In order to lay a nice bead and do sheet metal you need a MIG or metal inert gas welder. With out the gas you'll get spatter and you'll blow holes in sheet metal. Flux core wire is too heavy and yeilds rough welds and choking fumes. Return the welder and pay a visit to your local GTS Welco shop. They have the gas cylinders and usually have a "real gear" welder kit on special that many small shops use for light duty work. I have a Lincoln MIG from Home Depot that I bought on craigs list for 100$. It's fit my needs. Once you get a real mig, start off with .25 wire and .25 tips. Practice is key and once you have gas you'll be laying decent beads in no time. It's take some practice to get a nice bead with gas. The gas is usually a C02 and Argon mix.
